About the project

What’s happened so far on Camley Street?

2023 QBS Mural Launch copy.jpg
  • Since 2020, Camden Council has been speaking to the community through steering group meetings, hosting the Camley Street festival, exhibitions, workshops with places like the Camden youth council and local schools and more, all of which fed into the Camley Street Vision.

  • The results of this extensive engagement led to the development of a shared vision for the future of Camley Street. The vision expands on the original brief from Camden’s Cabinet by outlining community priorities for the area and how we can meet these.

  • Based on this vision a design team, led by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios,  created the draft masterplan for the area that was last shared with the community in 2022. You can read more about this draft masterplan here.

  • In previous consultations, local people told us they feel unsafe in the underpass at the north end of Camley Street and suggested ways to improve it. The Camley Street Neighbourhood Plan also asks new development to increase opportunities for social activity and interaction.

  • In response, Camden asked a group of young residents to help improve it by creating an outdoor community art gallery in the underpass. The Council also installed cycling improvements and made sure vacant units on Cedar Way are in use bringing a community-driven science incubator to Cedar Way.

What’s next for Camley Street?

  • Now we would like you to help us shape the design for the project as the team work towards a detailed planning application for the new neighbourhood in Summer / Autumn 2025, on behalf of Camden Council and their joint partners Ballymore Lateral.

  • We would like you to help us shape the detail in the next stage of designs through  co-design opportunities in the immediate and longer term.

  • This design work will build on the current vision Camden Council has co-created with the community so far and your input is crucial to  finalising the designs.
