3. Joining the steering group

We’re always looking for new members of the Camley Street Steering Group! The Steering Group is made up of local organisations, residents, workers and local councillors. They meet to help guide and get updates on Camden Council's neighbourhood redevelopment scheme.

Meet the group, hear about the project and share your hopes for Camley Street! You can come alone or bring a friend, and join us just for the workshop or stay on to eat, drink and chat with new friends! Sign up here.

4. Community storytelling

Are you aged 16-25? Or know someone who is?

From April – October 2025, you can join a paid storytelling project for local young people to document life around Camley Street now, and what it could be like in the future.

Through the project, you will develop skills in filmmaking, videography, photography, and archiving, providing paid experience and boosting confidence. This work will build a legacy of the uniqueness of Camley Street’s local area.

Contact us to become a storyteller.

5. Employment and training opportunities

If you live locally to Camley Street and are looking for work experience or are thinking about your career, we have activities in lots of areas including design, science, landscape, making, construction and much more. Keep updated on future opportunities by signing up to our newsletter and contact us to register your details.

6. Be part of creating a safer, better Camden

Do you want a say in how your local community develops?

Are you a young woman or gender-diverse person?

Would you like to be paid for being involved?

If so, you could be one of our Young Researchers-in-Residence. We’re looking for women, girls and non-binary people (16-25) to take part in a paid project as part of the wider Camley Street redevelopment in Camden. The work will focus on how you experience safety and how you would like the local area to be improved for all young people.

The experience is both about working and learning and includes:

  • A taught curriculum about design, city-planning, safety and gender (part online and flexible around your other commitments)

  • Reflecting on your knowledge of the local area

  • Putting together design proposals to make the Camley Street development a safer and more joyful space.

The project is part time (6 hours a week) and flexible around your other commitments. It is a chance to investigate your local area and consider how it could be designed better for the people who live there. And also, it’s fun.
